Matt Smith grew up in Texarkana, Arkansas. He earned his B.S. in political science from the University of Central Arkansas and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas William H. Bowen School of Law. He began practicing law in 2006 and joined MWZM in 2011. His practice focuses on creditor’s rights in foreclosure and bankruptcy matters. He is a member of the State Bar of Arkansas, Arkansas Bar Association, and Pulaski County Bar Association. Matt was promoted to Senior Attorney and Governmental Affairs Representative in 2016, where he advocated on behalf of the firm and its clients in state legislatures and Washington, D.C. on creditor’s rights related issues. He became a Licensed Title Agent in 2021 and was promoted to Managing Attorney for the Arkansas Foreclosure and Eviction Department in June 2023. He is currently serving as State Captain for Arkansas for the Mortgage Bankers Association National Advocacy Conference.

He served on the board of directors for the Pulaski County Court Appointed Special Advocates and the Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault until 2017. Matt joined Pulaski County CASA Board of Directors in 2016 and is currently serving as Vice President.
