Akil Butler
Akil Butler joined MWZM in May 2026 as an Associate attorney in the Litigation department. He has experience representing government agencies, creditors, and private clients in complex lending, bankruptcy, and litigation matters, including federal regulatory compliance and fraud investigations. He graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration from Texas Southern University in 2004 where he also played basketball. He received his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2007. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is licensed in the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He is also licensed in the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and the U.S. District Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma.
